How to Stop Your Phone’s Battery from Draining?

Going an entire day without a phone charger can be quite a task. Say you’ve spent an entire day at work without access to a charger. The thing is you need your phone at the end of the day to call for a ride to get home. Now you’re in a bit of a puzzle. You need to use your phone, but you also don’t want to drain your battery before the day's over. We’ll help break down what to do in that situation.

1. Don’t Close Your Programs

Some smartphone users automatically begin closing all the programs they’ve been using in the past few days. It’s a common assumption that closing background apps will make your battery drain slower.

However, both Apple and Google have stated that closing these apps does absolutely nothing for your battery. It might even make it slightly worse. This has to do with the algorithms designed within the software. When you stop using an app but don't close it, it’s suspended, so it doesn't drain any battery. Closing it would use the battery, so the process becomes counterproductive.

2. Notifications

Notifications can be a great thing since they keep us in the know instantly. However, to keep your battery from draining too fast, you should probably be picky about which applications you choose to receive notifications. Every notification you receive makes a sound, lights up your screen, and might even vibrate your phone. All these actions suck the battery life out of your phone.

3. Battery Life Settings

In every phone, including iPhones, you can always go to your settings and see which apps are using up the most battery.

If you're able to get to the root of the problem, it's easier to solve it. So, look up your most energy-consuming applications, and if they're unnecessary, close them.

4. Screen Brightness

You can significantly reduce your phone's battery life by turning up to the maximum level. According to research, the optimal screen brightness is around 30–40% indoors. That’s enough to see all of the information on the screen without overworking your battery. When you’re outdoors, use the auto-brightness function, which helps regulate the optimum level of brightness and preserves your battery.

5. GPS, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi

Having your phone’s Bluetooth, GPS, and Wi-Fi on will make your phone battery run low fast. While having your Wi-Fi on is probably necessary, GPS and Bluetooth aren’t functions you need on all the time. So, when you’re done using your GPS or Bluetooth, remember the switch it off.

6. Turn Off Your Phone

Has your phone every just crashed and stopped working? That’s because your battery hasn't got enough rest. Make sure you turn your phone off every night to ensure that your battery gets enough rest. This will help your phone's long-term battery performance and prevent it from continually crashing and glitching.
